Community Participation Supports
MVACL provides community participation supports for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, offering a range of activities and services designed to foster inclusion, independence, and personal growth. These supports include:
- Personal Development & Life Skills: Training in basic life skills, personal development, and social and recreational activities.
- Community Engagement: Opportunities for volunteering and other activities that encourage active participation in the community.
- Navigating Community Resources: Skill-building in using community infrastructure such as public transportation, shopping centres, libraries, and recreational facilities.
- Transition Support: Inclusive activities tailored for individuals transitioning from the educational system to adult community life.
- Person-Directed Planning (PDP): Collaborative planning with our Direct Support Supervisor Planner to help individuals identify their life vision and goals. This process includes finding appropriate services and supports, with input from families or chosen significant others.
